CHANGES TO MY MAGAZINE PAGES

All I changed on the feature article was the font of 'ORLA RUBY'. I put a white outline around it so that it matched the other fonts that I changed, and so that it would link to the house style of the magazine.

RE-SHOOT

Re-taking the Photographs

After looking at my final products, I thought that my front cover was the weakest page and I was not happy with the overall look of it. The edgy look which I wanted to create was not being portrayed which was due to the image used. I decided that I would re-take the photos but I would use a background instead of a plain wall so that I could create a more interesting and sharper photograph for my cover.

I used an editing program called 'Lightroom' to manipulate my photos an change the way that they look. I used this program because before I changed them using Powerpoint however they did not have very many different effects so was hard to enhance my photos. This program made it very easy for me to change the photo from the original.
I really like the second photo as the effect used creates a more edgy appeal which is the look that I want to achieve. This is because the colours are enhanced, creating a brighter image. For example: The background in the original is very dull however using this effect it makes it seem brighter and brings the background life as well as the overall photo.

I do not like the black and the white effect because it makes the models face very pale which makes the picture dull and lifeless which does not meet the conventions of a magazine cover and also will not attract attention to it.

The background of this image is not very urban which means that it doesn't create an edgy image to the photo which does not suit the music or fashion element to my magazine.
I do not like the positioning of the model  in this photograph because I think that she appears very far away which makes it harder for the audience to connect to the magazine. I think that a closer shot is much more effective and will draw the audience in more. I do however think that this image creates a more edgy tone which links to the genre of music and the artist in my magazine.
With this side shot it is hard to see what the artist is wearing which will to suit the fashion element of my magazine because the audience/fashion fans will want to see what she is wearing and what style she has. This body language of the artist makes it very hard to see this which is why I do not think that this image will be suitable for my cover.
